Cookies and storage
The whole list, with nothing left out: one key in local storage, no cookies at all, and the single script Cloudflare adds to every page it delivers.
In effect from 2 September 2026
1. The short version
ComboSlate is a set of static files, sets no cookies, and a check of the live site finds none. The publisher installs no counter, tag manager or pixel. One script does come from outside: Cloudflare, which delivers these pages, inserts its own Cloudflare Web Analytics script, which measures loading without a cookie and without an identifier. The only thing written to your browser is one key in local storage, recording that you have dealt with the notice below.
2. Everything this site stores
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration | Party |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| slate-banner-seen | Local storage, strictly functional | Records that you chose Accept or Decline, so the notice is not shown again. One short word, nothing about you. | Until you clear browser storage | First party (this site) |
| beacon.min.js | Outside script, stores nothing | Cloudflare Web Analytics, added as the page is delivered. Reports the page address, referring address, loading times, device and browser type and a country. Stores nothing, identifies nobody. | Nothing is kept, so nothing expires | Third party — Cloudflare, Inc. |
| cf_clearance | Cookie, security | Set by Cloudflare only if a security challenge is shown. None was present when this page was checked. | Up to 30 days, if it ever appears | Third party — Cloudflare, Inc. |
That is the complete list.
3. The notice at the bottom of the page
The notice states these facts; it does not switch anything on. Nothing loads when you press Accept and nothing is disabled when you press Decline, since the Cloudflare script is in the page before it reaches you. Both buttons write one value to the key slate-banner-seen so the notice stops appearing; press nothing and it returns next time.
4. Why Cloudflare appears at all
Pages are delivered through Cloudflare, Inc., a content delivery network, so the site stays fast in Australia and resists automated abuse. Cloudflare handles the address requested, your browser and device type, an approximate country from your IP address and loading figures. It adds the measurement script after the files leave the publisher's server, so editing the pages cannot remove it, and that request is the only one this site makes outside comboslate.com. The publisher sees aggregate counts, nothing about an individual reader. Cloudflare, Inc. is in the United States: a cross-border disclosure under APP 8, set out in the privacy statement.
5. Clearing or blocking what is stored
- Clearing site data for comboslate.com removes the key; the notice returns on your next visit.
- A setting or extension that blocks outside scripts stops the Cloudflare script; the site keeps working without it.
- Private or incognito windows discard everything above when closed.
6. Changes and questions
If a cookie, a storage entry or another outside request is added, this table and the effective date change the same day. Questions go to notes@comboslate.com, or by post to the address in the footer. This page takes effect on 2 September 2026.
